Ballad of Skelmersdale
Director Alex M-J made this portrait of Skelmersdale new town, as seen through the eyes of residents both current and past.
The film was created to accompany The Magnetic North's album: Prospect of Skelmersdale. Simon Tong from the band grew up in the town and through the album and film, the band and the filmmaker wanted to explore the concept and feeling of new towns, utopias and the legacy of incomplete social initiatives.
The film has had numerous screenings, including in the RIBA headquarters London.
